What To Expect

Depending on your needs, we'll talk to you about some of the below topics when we visit.

You might only want advice or a review of your system, you might be ready for a new boiler, you might have a problematic system or maybe everything has stopped working and you need an urgent repair? Give us a call so we can tailor a visit for you.

Advice

It's hard to know where to look or who to speak to when it comes to your heating system. At Country Gas Heating & Renewables we'll never force any products or suggest unnecessary work. We'll give you all the info and encourage you take time and think about your decision.

System Survey

We can look at your current heating system, taking note of the radiators, timer & thermostat controls, valves, filter, pumps, boiler, and cylinder, (if applicable) to gauge their condition and suitability going forward for system improvements.

Heat Loss Calculation

We can carry out an up to date heat loss calculation, confirming that your radiators and heat source are sized correctly for the property. We’ll measure the rooms, doors and window openings to see what your true heat requirement is and talk to you about your hot water demand.

Cleaning Your System

Flushing the system pipework and radiators is a MUST and should be done on every installation. Poor water quality is responsible for the majority of breakdowns, so giving the installation the best chance by cleaning and conditioning the water before we commission the system is so important. We can test the water quality of your system at any time and document the results for you to keep.

Set Up & Range Rate Boiler

We want lower flow temperatures within our system to ensure the boiler spends most of its life condensing (achieving its highest efficiency), it won’t do this if set at a high flow temperature. Also, if say for example your total radiator heat requirement is 8kw, we’ll tell your boiler this so it only gives what’s required – more often than not, this has not done making many boilers oversized and less efficient.

Controls

Weather compensation monitors the outside temperature and automatically talks to the boiler so it modulates the flow temperature (as you don't always need a high fixed flow temperature all year around). We want to avoid what we call ON/OFF thermostats and some so called "smart thermostats" that aren't really benefitting the system. We tend to use manufacture controls, or as a minimum 3rd party controls that are opentherm compatible. Other controls like priority hot water will help on a conventional system (one with a cylinder)

Choosing Your New Boiler

We can offer a range of boilers to suit your budget. Every scenario is different so we’ll advise what is best once we have visited your home and talked through your needs.

Appliance Audit

We can tell you your current boilers age and general condition. We can let you know how much the average repair might cost for main parts on the boiler and let you know if parts are still available so you're more equipped should something go wrong.
